THE MISSION TO DO 100 NEW THINGS WITH CY
First Stabilizing Labs
Cy returned after a week of declining numbers to find his first stabilizing lab results. His new norm. While there is still some work to be done particularly with his high phosphorus levels, we’re a little relieved that creatinine and BUN are better.
Self Diagnosis
At this point, I’m starting to believe this is the root of Cy’s diagnosis, that it isn’t congenital. That what a lot of people say about a congenital diagnosis as a go-to for instances where medical history is blurry is true.
Labs: First Follow-Up
A week after his 72-hour IV treatment and a week on 150 ml sub q fluids a day plus anti nausea meds and antacids, Cy’s lab show elevated levels of creatinine, phosphorous and potassium.
Labs: Post-IV Treatment
He responded well to his treatment. His BUN and creatinine levels decreased significantly. His phosphorous levels are on the high-end but within normal range.
Labs: Diagnosed CKD
On Sept. 4, 2020, Cy was admitted for a teeth cleaning and scaling to treat his gum disease. Upon completing the required blood panel for this anesthesia, the vet found signs of kidney disease and conducted a series of tests.
I look over his labs daily. I read about everything hourly. And I’m lost every minute. My latest thoughts have been towards Addison’s Disease or Hypoadrenocorticism, often described as the opposite of Cushings syndrome or Hyperadrenocorticism.
