At-Home Sub Q Fluids
Cy came home yesterday a happy, energetic pup. He responded well to his IV treatment. His levels are much lower than his previous test. Our next battle is to maintain his levels or (hopefully) lower them some more.

One of my best friends and former colleague Surane Weerasinghe cohosts an amazing podcast just about dogs: Dog Stories. After telling him about Cy’s story and diagnosis, Surane invited us to share our story on the podcast.
Labs: Diagnosed CKD
On Sept. 4, 2020, Cy was admitted for a teeth cleaning and scaling to treat his gum disease. Upon completing the required blood panel for this anesthesia, the vet found signs of kidney disease and conducted a series of tests.

Cy is coming home tonight after a 72-hour IV treatment. It’s been the longest three days. And this morning a call to the vet’s office triggered some major nerves. “The vet would like to talk to you.”
A Gentleman’s Greeting
It wasn’t a particularly remarkable day. It was cloudy. The roads weren’t jammed packed nor were they open and free. Siri wasn’t telling me conflicting directions; she was straight and narrow. The stars were aligned.
I look over his labs daily. I read about everything hourly. And I’m lost every minute. My latest thoughts have been towards Addison’s Disease or Hypoadrenocorticism, often described as the opposite of Cushings syndrome or Hyperadrenocorticism.
