We’re (almost) Famous: Dog Stories

One of my best friends and former colleague Surane Weerasinghe cohosts an amazing podcast just about dogs: Dog Stories. After telling him about Cy’s story and diagnosis, Surane invited us to share our story on the podcast.

So… after spending a day in LA, checking out Surane’s sweet new loft, taking Cy on his first elevator ride and to his first grocery store (where he picked out some bread for us), I admitted to Surane that I probably will have a hard time talking about our story with Cy’s diagnosis so fresh and my emotions constantly shifting.

We grabbed a bottle of gin and made our finest gin and tonics. Nerves calmed, other life gossip out of the way, we started recording what was supposed to be roughly 40 minutes of material to cut to a 30 minute episode. Now, I realize, I was spastic in my conversation, jumping from one topic to the next, saying “like” every other word, hesitating and jumbling up my sentences… So, after two hours, all I could do is laugh and wish him good luck with his edits.
