We’re Not Influencers

I work from home and sometimes it’s just too quiet. I put on “Secretariat” one day just as something to have in the background. Next thing I knew, Cy was starring at the TV, tilting his head side to side as horses raced across the screen. He jumped up to the speaker each time a horse neighed and sat patiently starring during the human dialogues.

He was watching TV.

I’ve never had a dog that watched TV. And to be fair, Cy doesn’t always watch TV unless there are animals involved. He can’t really be bothered with our human stories.

So I thought it might be fun to have a movie party.

I bought all the movie snacks and prepped some doggo-friendly ones that he’s allowed to have. I was excited to give him popcorn being one of my previous dog, Milan’s favorite treats. I even found out that Ross allows dogs in their stores and went with him to pick out a cute pajamas tee.

We put our favorite blankets on the couch and laid out our snacks. In person it was an Instagramable moment, so I thought, why not take some pictures.

Turns out, we’re not influencers.

While I can take other people’s photos just fine, fine enough to have had some photography side gigs, self portraits just aren’t my… or even Cy’s thing.

He did get a lot of treats though, so in the end Cy came out on top. He devoured a few pieces of jerky he was allowed to have and some pumpkin and sweet potato treats. He didn’t like the popcorn though. He munched on a kernel, spit out out, sniffed it and huffed like I deceived him somehow.

We rented “Bolt.” Cy fell asleep at about the 15-minute mark. It could have been food coma, but unfortunately he only gave the movie only one out of four paws. (Although, I loved the flick.)
